The standard N-345 probe for the VID-345 flaw detector is designed to detect and determine the depth of cracks, incl. stress-corrosive, in metal ferromagnetic structures.

Search and assessment of damage can be performed under a layer of corrosion and / or protective coating. At the same time, the thickness of the existing corrosion layer and / or protective coating is measured. Allows to carry out measurements:

  • on a rough, corroded surface (used pipes, parts of structures, mechanisms),
  • on a damp, dirty surface,
  • on surfaces with variable thickness of the insulating coating without additional adjustment.
The principle of operation of the sensor

Under the influence of an alternating magnetic field generated by the N-345 sensor, eddy currents are excited in the controlled area of ​​the product. Eddy currents in the crack area form stray magnetic fields, which are recorded by the sensor.

At the same time, using an alternating magnetic field, the distance from the sensor to the controlled metal surface is determined. Registration of these parameters makes it possible to measure the thickness of the protective coating or the depth of corrosion damage, as well as to identify and determine the depth of the crack regardless of the thickness of the protective coating or the depth of corrosion damage.
