Checking squares UP - flat locksmith squares UP type according to GOST 3749-77 are intended for checking and marking right angles (90°). They are used to control the perpendicular arrangement of parts in the process of fitting and assembly and curvature work.
The long and short sides of the square have two flattened surfaces each, which form the inner and outer working corners. The outer working angle of the bench square is used when checking the inner corners of parts, the inner one when checking the outer corners. To mark the corners, a test square is placed on the surface of the part, after which the desired angle profile is outlined with a scribe.
